Alcohol and Other Drugs

Understanding the effects of alcohol is essential in the making informed decisions and promoting a healthier lifestyle. Health Promotion & Wellness offers educational presentations in classrooms, for organizations, and hosts outreach events throughout the year that can help you learn about alcohol and its effects, as well as how to keep you and your friends safe if taking part in alcohol-related activities.

Tips to Stay Safe

  • Alternate alcoholic beverages with water
  • Eat food
  • Do not mix alcohol and drugs or medication (talk to your provider about drinking while on certain medications)
  • Keep your phone charged
  • Have a plan to get home wiht a completely sober driver or use a driving service
  • Call 911 or UAPD (348-5454) if you notice any signs of alcohol poisoning such as:
    • Unconsciousness
    • Frequent vomiting
    • Pale/Blue skin
    • Slurred Speech
